Diverse group of retirees enjoying community together

About Us

Retirement Should Feel Like Freedom. Not Confusion.

Sanity In Retirement exists because the transition out of work is harder than anyone admits — and most people are figuring it out alone.

Our Mission

Why We Built This

We started Sanity In Retirement because we kept hearing the same thing from retirees: 'I thought I'd be happy, but I feel lost.' The money advice is everywhere. The emotional reality of retirement — the identity shift, the loss of structure, the search for purpose — gets almost no airtime. This community is the honest conversation that was missing.

What We Stand For

Our Values

Honesty over positivity

We don't pretend retirement is all golf and grandkids. Real talk is welcome here.

No experts, just experience

The most valuable advice comes from people who've actually lived it — not consultants.

Every retirement is different

There's no single right way. We celebrate the full range of how people live this chapter.

Judgment-free zone

Whether you're thriving, struggling, or somewhere in between — you belong here.

Our Members

Who This Community Is For

Sanity In Retirement is for anyone navigating life after full-time work — whether you retired last month or ten years ago, whether you're loving it or finding it harder than expected. We're US-based but globally welcoming. Our members range from 55 to 85+, from every background, and from every kind of retirement imaginable.

How We're Organised

Six Topics. One Honest Community.

We organize conversations around the six things that matter most in retirement: your social life, staying active, finding novelty, managing income, travel, and your sense of self. Every discussion lives in one of these forums.

Come as You Are

No credentials required. No perfect retirement needed. Just show up and talk.
